Useful guidance from ACAS.

How many requests are you having for time off to watch the Euro 2016 football tournament?

Luckily there is some useful guidance produced from Acas as the organisation that advises on employment issues, that has released some information you may find useful.  Having agreements in place for covering requests for time off, periods of sickness, internet use during working hours or watching TV at work are covered.

Acas says that employers may wish to look at being a little more flexible when allowing employees to take leave during this period, but said that workers needed to remember that it may not always be possible to book time off.

Sir Brendan Barber, who chairs Acas, said: “The Euro 2016 tournament is an exciting event for many football fans but staff should avoid getting a red card for unreasonable demands or behaviour in the workplace during this period.”
